Meticulous Grade II listed townhouse restoration and contemporary rear glass pavilion overlooking the Thames.
The Vision & Materiality
Commissioned by an international patron of architecture, the Chelsea Embankment Residence demanded three years of painstaking heritage restoration. In partnership with English Heritage, original early-Victorian cornicing, chimneypieces, and pine floorboards were conserved by master craftsmen.
To the rear, an audacious four-storey structural glass box was engineered to float into a secluded courtyard garden curated with Japanese cloud pines and tranquil water reflection basins. The intersection between historic masonry and frameless glass provides unprecedented natural illumination into the central living galleries.
Interior architecture was realised with bespoke joinery in smoked European eucalyptus, patinated brass screening, and a suspended sculptural bronze staircase engineered in Northern Italy.
